“Who's on Sabbath?"
If I could talk to God just to socialize,
tell him what I can see-- what’s in my eyes.
You got to do something down here dude,
nations fighting, families feuding,
children crying-- mankind screwed.
You been on vacation for way to long,
We-- mankind-- need something strong.
Some say you skipped town on a heavenly cruise,
they say we’ll see you, if we pay our dues,
big guy; we need you now so we don’t lose.
You sent us here without much right,
lots of angry people just want to fight.
Don’t you hear all the people praying in vain,
don’t you hear the people, calling out your name.
It’s said; in six days you made the heavens and earth,
you’ve been on Sabbath since before my birth.
God, your probably out on some planet in Timbuktu,
we got bombs bursting on kids and on women too,
we need you now, cuz were feeling so blue.
The heavens opened up-- a holy answer to my curse,
God screamed out; "oh holy shit-- what a verse!"
"So, you want to socialize with me,
you got hate in your eyes that you don’t see,
stop all your condemning and let me be."
“You’ve got some nerve to call on the ONE,
you beg to your father like a whimpering son.”
“Born of all my spirit but your dead inside,
born with all my tools but you have no pride,
born of all my powers but like a victim you hide.”
“You made your own bed-- witness earth’s hell,
you pray on you knees-- but in darkness you dwell.”
“Get off your sorry ass and get your spirit in gear,
I’ve handed you the wheel, it’s time that you steer,
Destiny’s in your sweaty hands-- drop that fucking fear!”
“I’ll be waiting for you-- way out on Timbuktu,
If you make it there-- I’ll know that you are true.
If ‘Your Earth’ blows up, I guess-- I’ll know that too.”
“Well now, in so many words-- that’s pretty much your test,
I’m off on vacation-- but I’ll be wishing you the best.”
