VIRGINAL ROSEBUD
A virginal rosebud,
The colour of blood
Held in the palm of a virgin
Such beauty hidden deep
Taken from Lakshadweep - (island in Arabian Sea)
By her Prince of Knights
About to unfold
Its layer of overfold,
Imperforate
Not willing to share
Hidden deeply in its lair
But a heavenly scent
That drives us wild
Wanting, to be undefiled
Yet, left to be desired
In the mind of the beholder
With the devil on its shoulder
Wanting to be the first
To capture its essence
Feeling of indulgence
At being the first
Taking away its beauty,
Its modesty
The virginal rosebud
Note:
I wrote this poem through a female and male’s perspective of a rosebud.
