We’re familiar with the idea of there being only 6 people between you and anyone else in the world – and that’s a good thing.
However, consider that there are countless-degrees of separation between you and reality – and that’s not such a good thing. I can hear people’s heads spinning. Let me explain.
Not all that long ago a man could very easily see what he was actually doing.
You pick up a saddle and stick it on a horse. One can see, feel, and smell, etc., the horse and the saddle. Not to mention all the other perceptions that one is aware of in the environment. It was a very tactical, sensory laden world – not too long ago.
There’s a lot of mass in the process of saddling a horse and very little significance.
A child could master it with very little instruction. Heck, if one had even seen a saddle on as horse, at some time, they could figure it all out in about 30 minutes of trial and error – without instruction.
And the same goes for just about every other task that occupied our lives – not too long ago. Very little significance and lots of mass.
Not so in today’s world. In the current state of things the poles have swung 180 degrees. Now it’s ALL significance and virtually ZERO mass.
What does this have to do with writing? As it turns out – everything…
