"As long as life has the level of being a game, you can play it. But when it no longer has the level of being a game, it plays you. It's the difference between being the chess player and the pawn. And the difference between being the chess player and the pawn is playing a game on a relatively nonserious level and being all the seriousness there is—that's the pawn. The pawn is handled on the board by somebody else. The pawn is not cause; the pawn moves as it is moved by the environment, and that's all it's moved. And it's a very serious pawn."

Brief Bio
My name is Ron Grant. I go by a few pen names, though most don't differ off into my true name. You may find a Ron Waluch, or a Ron Grant-Waluch posted somwhere, it's all me. I also go by my AOL IM screen name in some of my other ventures, my college based advertisement biz, sngwriter510 promotions & productions, etc. The name has changed a few times. I became a writer sort of as a way to release my pain. A good friend and I were in a tough spot, and I needed a way to express it non-verbally, after she moved away. So I starting writing the blues, and progressed from there.

I also likewise fell into poetry by chance. I had given some of my songs to a friend and he took a verse of a song and entered it into a poetry contest. I did ok, but I decided to pick it up. I don't think it's very hard and it's a way to get out a quick feeling out. I can make most pieces in under ten minutes. Sometimes that can show though.

My latest venture is into novels. Of which I've started two. I have one which is halfway finished, and the other is a quarter or so done. One is a sci-fi, fantasy type, the less finished one is a mystery.

I am presently working on all of my work and I hope you enjoy my poems, and the selection of my mystery.

ML,
Ron

"Do Work"

This a a goofy little piece that I did for a class, and this is my corrected version. Enjoy!

“Do Work”

Do work
It’s the worst advice
Yet it’s the best advice.

Do work
Something that I am told
When I feel I can do no right
To not make the world a fight.

Do work
When I feel down
It somehow turns me around
It whips away my frown
So I feel less down

Do work
Like get to work
Don’t let it hold you down

Do work
When you think you can’t.
Work hard to overcome what stops you
And to bring down the b… Continue
