About Katrin Roush
The powerful and upbeat sounds of Katrin have drawn attention from audiences and musicians alike. The acoustic rock-style music is driven by Katrin's dynamic acoustic guitar and soulful voice. Her songwriting has won her national recognition at competitions including The Mountain Stage NewSong Festival in WV, where Katrin’s original song “Present Moment” rose to the top out of over four hundred entries. Katrin Roush is originally from Newton MA. She has been crafting her melodic, passionate songwriting style since 1991. Katrin was raised in a musical and artistic family and her natural ability to sing introduced her to the stage at the tender age of three. Katrin began playing the violin at age seven and sang in choruses and musicals throughout her school-age years. After graduating from high school, Katrin formed a band as the lead singer, learned how to play guitar and discovered songwriting as her mode of self-expression. Since then she has been writing and performing in local and national clubs, coffeehouses and festivals. Katrin has been working with aspiring singers as a vocal coach and has conducted numerous songwriting and performance workshops around the Boston area.
Katrin uses many different guitar tunings that weave her voice and music into a lush tapestry. She has been well received by audiences both as a solo artist and gigging with her rock band. Her performances have been described as “riveting” and “soul stirring” with nothing but her guitar and a voice that will send shivers down your spine. Katrin is presently recording her third CD at Thomas Eaton Recording in Newburyport, MA. It is due to be released in Summer 2008.
