About Jim Greenwald

I am a transplanted New Englander (Connecticut to Pennsylvania), who has lived in a few states and traveled extensively, and yes, home is the best. I am multi-cultural; Ojibwe, French and German. Having lived most of my life near or on the ocean, it would be fair to think of me as a sea creature.

I love to write, for the pleasure, the release and least of all the profit. Profit not necessarily being money, for rewards come in many forms. I write mostly about love and feelings, but devote a significant portion of my writing time to my Native American Roots.

I have five books in publication; Wishing for Rain, Mitakuye Oyasin, With Pen & Feather, Seen From An Open Window and Across the Bridge. I have been lucky enough to have been published in numerous e-zines and magazines and each time, in whatever manner a piece I have written is published the thrill of seeing it in print never diminishes.

The title "Mitakuye Oyasin" is Sioux, literally meaning "We are all Related" which we are, all children of the Creator.

Buried deep within my sleep I dream.
Far from the reality of the world my
soul is touched by the stillness.

I am alone, in a place where once I
walked with a friend.
I can feel the crisp November air.

The leaves conducted by the wind are
playing a symphony.
The music reverberates for me,
its only human audience.

The nearby stream joining in,
singing words of memories relived.
It unravels each dream, one at a time.

A bit of sun caresses the tree tops.
The few remaining leaves dance
in the bre… Continue

I Will Take Until There Is Nothing Left To Take

The wind whispers words of death
as the eagle soars through polluted skies

once there were endless days to come
once there were promises of tomorrow

emotions soared like the eagle
today, emotions are past, spirits dashed

there was a time when her beauty was grand
now, she lays silent…wounded and worn

listen…did you hear
Mother Earth has taken her last breath

the few left feel her heartbeat stop
seconds later they join her fate

man chose this direction
blind and uncaring…GREED kills

the ro… Continue

Welcome

Writers are crucial to the survival of a culture.

For a culture transmits itself to future generations through its fiction, in whatever form; be it novel, short story, poem, play or song. It is not the dry dusty textbooks that tell us where we have been nor where we are going but the storyteller who codifies who we are and who we wish to become.

This is great, Sharon. There's no void of down-toned comm on our planet today. You make a great point about creating "good effects", not only in our art, but in our lives as we lead them. That is what Ron says in Route To Infinity- just being a bea…

Your verses leave me detached, suspended in the silence of me. And then the endless contemplations of "what if" so much beauty could fill the spaces of us all.
