Erin Holt

"For setting a good example as an artist towards the creation of a better world and helping other artists direct their aesthetic inspiration towards improving our world, thereby creating a better future for us all."

ERIN HOLT
has studied and performed for choreographers and companies of the Martha Graham Company, The Joffrey Ballet, the Utah Repertory Ballet and more. She has appeared on educational television, commercials, videos and concert venues. She is an award-winning choreographer. Ms. Holt has been teaching modern dance and classical ballet for over 25 years and in 2005, along with several of her students, Ms Holt traveled to Europe as guest teacher for the Salzburg International Ballet Academy in Salzburg, Austria.

She has worked as a performance coach to provide artists with the skills to develop stage presence and move naturally on stage. She was recognized by Music Connection Magazine for her work as it related to the music industry.

Ms. Holt founded California DanceArts in 1987, located in La Canada, California, where students are trained in versatile styles with classical ballet at its core. Erin Holt developed and defined the school’s curriculum offering 10 progressive levels of classical ballet.

Today, many of Ms. Holt’s students and alumni have been accepted to several University dance programs, have gone onto successful television and theater careers and have been awarded study and performance opportunities with companies such as Universal Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Pittsburgh Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Alonzo King's Lines Ballet, Salzburg International Ballet and more.

Several years following the establishment of her school, Ms. Holt initiated California Theatrical Youth Ballet, a performing company for dancers preparing for professional careers. Today, the company provides Los Angeles communities with many inspirational dance programs and opportunities.

Ms. Holt was honored with the 2006 Artists For A Better World International "SETTING A GOOD ARTISTIC EXAMPLE" Award "For setting a good example as an artist towards the creation of a better world and helping other artists direct their aesthetic inspiration towards improving our world, thereby creating a better future for us all" at Celebrity Centre International, in Hollywood, CA, as part of the AFABW Awards Event & Concert. The award was presented by AFABW Ambassador Carmelita Pittman.

California Dance Arts: Philosophy

While every child may not possess the desire to become a professional dancer, we believe that quality dance training of a professional caliber will ultimately benefit students of any skill level and at any age. Even the recreational dancer will gain all of the benefits offered by a top-rate dance education program. Websters dictionary contains two definitions of the word professional. The first definition reads thus: Earning one's living from a sport or other activity. The second definition… Continue

Dancing Toward the Future

Ryan Morrison's bags have been nearly packed for over a week, as he awaits, with great anticipation, his trip to the east coast. Ryan, a student of California DanceArts located in La Canada, was awarded a full tuition scholarship by the Pittsburgh Ballet to attend a five-week summer intensive training program. Pittsburgh Ballet's program is one of the nation's most prestigious and certainly, one of the most rigorous dance programs offered to serious dance students. Auditions for entry into this… Continue

New Rhinoceros Children's Book

I've been having a great year and creating lots of new things with Jenny. Over Christmas I was missing my guy Jack, so I wrote a book for him, then Jenny illustrated it. It's called The Toughskin Rhinoceros Wrangler Company. It's a simple story about the lengths we are willing to go to to see the people we miss. And there are dancing rhinoceroses. Here's some of Jenny's art…See More

The Threshold Bookcast : Chapter 13 : Keys To Ascension

Chapter 13 : Keys To AscensionRahu Lüli, the teenage monk from Kõrgus, is once again the central character of the weekly instalment of the Threshold Bookcast. This time, we find the novice reminiscing as he explores unknown territory uphill, following a hunch that has occurred to him prior to the morning ritual. « « Gazing up, the apprentice had detected an odd detail. Something was decidedly wrong about the view, and it couldn't but have a meaning. Over the years, the pitch black walls of…See More

Art is my World

During my earliest year in Elementary School, the only hobby that steals my time is sketching on my notebook. While my teacher is discussing and writing on the board, I am in my chair at the back busy in sketching. In that time I believed that learning could not be taken only from school, and knowledge is not only about speaking and writing but also drawing. My mother exasperated every time she checks my notebook because what she found was not my homework but those faces of my favorite anime like…See More
