Brief Bio
Dave Repchuk was born in 1954 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He moved around the eastern USA until he was 12. The family then moved to Alberta, Canada, home of Jasper and Banff National Parks. A sensitivity to nature's inspiration and a journey for the discovery of self began here.

Dave has been creating art since his studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1972. Also in those years he studied Film and TV arts, Photography and sound recording.

"Art has always been a part of my life and to a large degree how I look at my environments, people in the world and the communication between these points. The communication with the viewer is senior to any other objective in my work. I like to create an inspired emotion for the viewer - put a unique image in their space and expand their vantage. I want to give the viewer another doorway for perception. For example, in this current series of works that I worked on with my wife, Tracy, we affectionately called it 'First Times,' we wanted to involve the viewer on several levels. Tracy created unique poetry, I created special images to go with the poetry. Some viewers enjoy the 'word' some are strictly visual. The idea in the DOCNOT series is to bring these two elements together so that we can enhance our communication with the viewer and elicit dormant emotions. Currently we are considering other subject areas for this co-operative effort."

Recently the focus has been on pen and ink and pencil drawing, water colour and acrylic painting. Currently he is creating the illustrations for the Luggage Lizard series of books.

A freelance illustrator he is available for any projects.

David works were at a recent show in Canada, with the folowwing awards.

New Rhinoceros Children's Book

I've been having a great year and creating lots of new things with Jenny. Over Christmas I was missing my guy Jack, so I wrote a book for him, then Jenny illustrated it. It's called The Toughskin Rhinoceros Wrangler Company. It's a simple story about the lengths we are willing to go to to see the people we miss. And there are dancing rhinoceroses. Here's some of Jenny's art…See More

The Threshold Bookcast : Chapter 13 : Keys To Ascension

Chapter 13 : Keys To AscensionRahu Lüli, the teenage monk from Kõrgus, is once again the central character of the weekly instalment of the Threshold Bookcast. This time, we find the novice reminiscing as he explores unknown territory uphill, following a hunch that has occurred to him prior to the morning ritual. « « Gazing up, the apprentice had detected an odd detail. Something was decidedly wrong about the view, and it couldn't but have a meaning. Over the years, the pitch black walls of…See More

Art is my World

During my earliest year in Elementary School, the only hobby that steals my time is sketching on my notebook. While my teacher is discussing and writing on the board, I am in my chair at the back busy in sketching. In that time I believed that learning could not be taken only from school, and knowledge is not only about speaking and writing but also drawing. My mother exasperated every time she checks my notebook because what she found was not my homework but those faces of my favorite anime like…See More
