AFABW Founder: Why I Started Artists For A Better World
I started AFABW back in the 90's from a desire to help forward the direction of our world through aesthetics. Artists are always creating a new future, and I believe our world can benefit from the brighter future that artists can create.

THE BOOK:
What I got out of the book is what the future is going to be like, and that it’s possible to have that kind of positive world. If everyone does their best to stop suppression and war. everything will be fine and if not, all there will be are problems. I got inspired to make more art for all to see

- Barbara Cordova Oliver is the Founder of Artists For A Better World (AFABW), a network of worldwide artists uniting to make a difference in society. By uplifting the culture through aesthetics, by raising the awareness of artists and others about the power the artist has in forwarding social betterment and by working with and supporting community service activities, AFABW and its members are making and inspiring positive changes in society.
Barbara has been a writer most all her life, starting with poetry and short stories in elementary school. Then, as a teen she got into songwriting, and used her guitar as a tool to bring her words to life through music.
Barbara has produced and performed in numerous shows that have included a variety of talent. After working with many artists, and also studying the works of L. Ron Hubbard that emphasize the importance of the artist to society, she was inspired to write Mission of the Artist. The novel shows what an artist with a dream can accomplish and how vital it is for artists with positive goals to ban together. It contains elements of fantasy, drama and humor and is seasoned with truth throughout.
Barbara has done book signings at Barnes and Noble stores in the USA, on the East and West Coasts. Her books can be ordered through their stores, or online at barnesandnoble.com
The book was also adapted for stage as a musical, and performed in Hollywood, California.
Some key credits include:
Talent Coordinator and Performer in the "Celebrate Creativity" show, an event put on by Broadway and Las Vegas producer, Joe Casini; Performance at a Human rights rally in Frankfurt Germany for 8,000 people; executive producer of the Artists for a Better World annual arts festivals at Celebrity Centre International in Hollywood, and producer of many variety showcases.
Radio air play of her song entitled "Goodwill" in Seattle, WA for the 1990 Goodwill Game; Radio air play of her song Mission of the Artist on KCHO and KZSC in Northern California and KLOS in Los Angeles, California. As well as radio play of Planet of Peace, in Cairns, Australia (a song she co-wrote with Dan Weitzman).
