You have captured exactly the transition of the sacred to the mundane, thank goodness it is all part of a cycle, and nothing stays still for too long! I am enjoying your writing immensely. I will come back and read more. All my thanks. mauri ora.…

Brief Bio
I live amongst a small stand of trees, beside the sea near Auckland, NZ.

I work with children, creating ways to learn emergent Maori language, and about Maori culture while enabling each person to tell their individual, family, tribal and traditional stories in their own unique way.

I favour weaving harakeke (NZ flax), painting, collaging, silversmithing and writing when telling my own stories.

Poem: My slow progression....

captured thoughts
bleeding
across the panorama
of my mind
a white page
to fill in
leave track marks
to show
my slow progression
in time

Poem: ngawini raua ko maihi: to make sense of the world...

if i could count
the times you both spent
teaching me to read
between the lines
of human nature
sifting amongst word image relics
from which to make
sense of the world
to live with integrity
there would not be
enough stars in this galaxy
for each moment in time with you

nga taonga aroha - gifts of love

from amongst the headstones
in the cemetery on the hill
overlooking whakataha the sacred mountain
and waitangi the sacred river
the crescendo of the piri wiri tua brass band
rendition of paloma blanca reached its final note
as i walked away from the body of my tupuna
laying in the grave

bags packed and children asleep
in the back of the isuzu
slowly driving along the pot-holed
dusty unsealed road
away from tauwhara marae
toward state highway one
i remembered the tupuna saying
we've all got a pl… Continue

Hello, Annais! Thank you so much for the kind validation, my new friend! This kindness is appreciated, and has inspired me to create a bit more time to post my work on this page, too....Thank you, and I hope to one day see your beautiful land, New Zealand, with these eyes.....Until then, I LOVE to hear about other's areas, friends, and lifestyles...this is how I have been able to travel through this life....I feel as though I have seen the world, and other individuals have taken me on the "grand tour".....It's a pretty cool game.....

This is great, Sharon. There's no void of down-toned comm on our planet today. You make a great point about creating "good effects", not only in our art, but in our lives as we lead them. That is what Ron says in Route To Infinity- just being a bea…

Your verses leave me detached, suspended in the silence of me. And then the endless contemplations of "what if" so much beauty could fill the spaces of us all.
