What I can bring my mother?
A pretty pink flower plucked fresh from the hospital grounds
A feathery peony, soft and smooth like a bird, I found
I could bring a smile, some soup and crackers, nuts or perhaps tea
Conversation, stories, my poems and news about relatives and me
I could just sit and watch television and eat snacks by her bed
I could bring lotions and potions for her face and comb her head
But what could I bring, to get you out of this bed?
