My late dad (a career poetry lecturer) loved Robert Burns.

O my luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June;
O my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly played in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
O I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve,
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Though it were ten thousand mile.

A few years ago my son attended Guelph University in Guelph, Ontario.
To my surprise he summoned me to attend the Tribute to Robby Burns.
Well I am so fascinated with my son on stage I showed up with a friend.
This is something to see my Afro Caribbean Canadian offspring in a Kilt.
The words of Robby Burns set to music which was a great hoot to me.
My son on stage with the twang or brogue of a Scotsman well I thought..
Many thoughts I hope that kilt is fastened securely joked my friend and I.
We laughed about the Front seat; the whole auditorium as well in trouble.
Well he had a solo and from the word go the crowd were in stitches.
Well I was not aware Robby Burns was so much a kinky rouge.
The Fans of Robby Burns or Robert Burns enjoyed every rendition.
Look forward to Haggis with a brogue which kept the performance alive.

The Kiwi Boy

What to do, with a kiwi like you,

Smile and twinkle, and hope theres

some to spare,

as you look around the cupboards that are bare..

Oh no, not a cookie one or even two!!

Just a little treat in a fella like you.

Glimpse

Where have we gone, to kingdoms and back

Up mountains and planes on the horses back,

Such a small mist and yet a mountain dew

Thats going to capture a Big spirit like you

Travel the past and distance the future,

as time will go, no matter the nuture.

I want ,I will, and be as you, the only

true time, is now .... why dont you!

Hello Neil Davis,

Reading the above poem, I recollect my visit to Robert Burns" place Eyre in 1989. I would like to share two pictures of the bard's museum and the famous cottage.

This is great, Sharon. There's no void of down-toned comm on our planet today. You make a great point about creating "good effects", not only in our art, but in our lives as we lead them. That is what Ron says in Route To Infinity- just being a bea…

Your verses leave me detached, suspended in the silence of me. And then the endless contemplations of "what if" so much beauty could fill the spaces of us all.
