oh, I think I heard about that course from somewhere else. I've always wanted to take the course but didn't know where to find it

I have a friend who is on it. He loves it but like most things in life, you get out of it what you put into it. He has been very thorough, often shooting several variations on each assignment and submitting his favorites. He has done well enough that the school purchased several of his photos for use in their materials. He has been on the course for a couple of years but that is due to his working long hours and only being able to work on it sporadically.

On the flip side, I purchased the course shortly after I first got into photography. I had a shoot coming up in a couple of weeks that was covered by materials in lesson 3, which I thought would be very useful to have. Turns out they wouldn't let me skip around, which makes sense since it is a course. I never did the course - I was too busy changing careers from sales into full time photography at the time and was able to learn the skills I needed in a less structured method.

Hi Andrew, NYI stands for New York Institute of Photography which is a correspondance course I purchased. I am working on lesson One and I was curious how long it takes to get through all Six. It is supposed to be a very good course in profesional photograrhy.
